BMW F25 is the second iteration of BMW X3. The car was launched in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show as part of the 2011 model year. The car’s X3 xDrive28i model was also part of the new models at the 2012 Auto China show.
BMW produced the F25 at the Spartanburg Plant in Greer, South Carolina, beginning from September 1, 2010. The previous model was manufactured in Austria. In terms of size, the F25 is nearly as big as the initial E53 series X5.
During the two launches, all the F25s introduced had the xDrive designation, a reference to their all-wheel drive capabilities. However, later on in 2012, a rear-wheel model, tagged as sDrive, was introduced into the lineup.
There are options for both manual and automatic transmission. The manual transmission option is six-speed, while the automatic transmission variant has eight speeds. The model features a Euro 5 emission standard.
The two millionth BMW X3 to come out of the Greer factory has been held at the plant to mark the milestone. Before then, however, the Vermilloin Red Metallic xDrive35i, which features an M Sport Package, and and Oyster Nevada interior, was driven by Terry Gardner, a veteran with the company for 16 years.
With him were Renita Williams, Trung Phan, and Olga Yurchenko. The trio represented the Body, Paint, and Assembly technologies at the firm.
In the UK, models of this BMW entered the market on November 18, 2010. At the time, the xDrive30d was among the lineup. The F25 X3 was available in the US in 2011 with a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine with either a twin scroll turbocharger or normal aspiration.
The xDrive30d was introduced in this market in April the following year, while the xDrive35d was added a few months later in September. August 20 of 2012 saw the addition of the sDrive18d, and in 2013, a new generation of BMW’s Professional Navigation System was introduced.
Towards the close of 2010 xDrive28i, xDrive35i arrived in US BMW Centers as 2011 model year versions. The xDrive28i 2013 model year replacement had upgrades such as Driving Dynamics Control with ECO PRO, Auto Start and Stop, as well as a new Driver Assistance Package. The US models all feature an 8-speed automatic transmission system.
For the 2015 model year, made in 2014, the BMW X3 (F25 LCI) xDrive20d received several upgrades. Among them were exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, cup holders, new upholstery designs, twin circular headlights, a newly designed kidney grille, new exterior colour, an optional Smart Opener for the automated storage and tailgate, and redesigned front and rear bumpers.
